    Transmission Problems

I have a 2002 Air. I noticed this weekend that my transmission was slipping. If I tryed to get the boat on plane it would rev up like it was going into neutral I could only idle. I first noticed that the boat would not go into forward gear with the positive feel it has always had. Example you would click it in to forward and it would take a second before you would hear the prop spin or feel it. Reverse was normal as soon as you would put it in reverse it would start spinning right away. I checked the transmission fluid and it was normal. I also tryed disconnecting the cable at the transmission and putting the transmission in gear by hand it still didnt fix the problem

I dropped the boat off at the service center to get it fixed. Wanted to see if anyone had heard of this before?

    RE: Transmission Problems

Grant, you should post your question over at Correctcraftfan, there is a real trans mechanic on that site that has been johnny on the spot with the trans issues.

      My professional opinion-

Its broken from hauling around loads of batteries and subs. Sacks of water is one thing, but these batteries and subs are killing transmissions everywhere.

Luke its a good thing you not a professional but you sure sound like one. Thats the typical type of answer you would get from someone trying to avoid covering somthing at the factory or dealership

          Well Grant,

I have a lot of experience in trying to avoid actually doing warranty work on customer vehicles. It seems to me that maybe the gel coat cracks you speak of in another post are due to the mulitple W7's in your boat.

You see Grant, at the factory we only use free air subs due to their low level of pressure exerted. These high performance subs you have are not rated nor approved for marine use. I cannot warranty such an "accident" due to your not using "marine" rated equipment in your boat.

By the way, if you are interested I will trade you straight across a set of our free air subs to replace your W7's. I know the free airs are a premium product and should do sufficiently.

This sounds like someone who doesn't give a crap about customer service.

              Luke... what a joke.

                  WOW,

I certainly hope you guys aren't serious. I was at Grants house yesterday and we were joking about all of the ways that companys try and fanagale themselves out of paying for warranty work. Just a joke thats all.

Problem is in the trans, possibly the forward clutch drum is cracked near the hub that goes into the rear housing of the trans.
