    Ballast Pump Faulty Issue

I was on a week long trip up to Lake Trinity this past week and noticed my boat listing to the right. I drained all my ballast out of the boat and it leveled out. I then tried filling the ballast back up one pump at a time and noticed my left pump not working and hence the listing to the right. I got back home this weekend and was looking for fuses to check and doesn't seem to have any. So I thought I would check the settings on the Linc and see if any codes were on but all the voltage shows to be correct on the ballast stuff. How can you check if your ballast pump went bad or if it's wiring? I have a warranty on the boat but dealers around me are backed up till next year it seems like
Oh yeah, my boat is a 2018 G23 with the XS7 engine package

    Thanks Matt

You could always just swap the port & starboard pumps to see if the problem follows.

Ain't the pumps it is a faulty ballast sensor for sure. Major problem with these modern Nautique wakeboats. "I have been there done that in my G23 2017". Get dealer to change all 3 sensors under warranty. Don't attempt to change on your own , PITA to change. "LIfe is too short to deal with this problem on your own"; get dealer to deal with this issue, I promise you. Many will disagree with me but trust my word, you will not be disappointed.

So I tried swapping the pumps and now the pump I swapped won't turn on either. I then swapped it back to original location and still won't turn on, So now I have 2 pumps that won't turn on. I am now thinking it has something to do with the wiring going to them, blown in line fuse or circuit of some sorts.

I am probably just going to use the boat rest of summer without ballast and have dealer deal with it over the winter if I can't figure it out in the next week or so, Thanks

Did you get a circuit fault code on the screen? Go to Settings then Power Diagnostics and you should have 2 faults now. Just reset them and try your pumps again. If it trips the circuit again then reset it again and try the pump again in the opposite direction (fill vs empty or empty vs fill). If you trip the circuit then it's just that one pump that's bad.

There is no circuit fault codes on the Linc screen, that was the first thing I checked.

Strange. The next thing I would try is to use a test light and see if you have power at the pumps on the plugs coming from the boat. And then test your 2 pumps by running some wires straight from the battery to the pumps and see if they still work.

GMLIII, can’t you take the ballast sensors out of the equation by simply unplugging them? The pumps then just run off the timers, right? That would at least remove a variable.

take a photo of the power diagnositics screen showing the level sensor voltages and post it.

Sorry to jump on this post but I have a similar problem where the starboard tank on a g21 seems to not be filling or emptying properly. I have checked the impellor of all pumps and seem ok even replaced the starboard one but problem still persists.

                      Do these voltages look correct?

Do you really have 1730 hours on your G21 2018,? Had to asks, seems high. I will check my voltage on my G23 2017 senders and you can compare. Your Port seems low

I don't know about the 3 voltage items at the end, but the amp numbers are probably the amount allocated in the pdm (power distribution module), and not a reading of how many drawn.

Hmm I will carry out some checks whilst draining and filling and check the voltage tonight.

In regards to hours yes it is true, but this is a boat at a members club where it gets used everyday from March - end of October and lots slalom skiers are taking up surfing as they get older and the poor ski boat isn't used as much! but that means less time for us wakeboarders!!

Can you check to see if your pumps are actually bad? That would be one of the first things I'd try to eliminate them from further problem determination. Pull one of the failed pumps out of the boat, get some wire and jump the connections on the pump to see if they'll turn manually. If they do you can eliminate them from the equation.

There's a lot of wild cards in play with a boat with that many hours to be sure. The boat wiring and the pump motors are pretty stout and to have 2 of them fail like this would be odd. My money is on the logic circuitry. PDU, sensor or something along those lines.
