I just wanted to circle back to this in case someone else runs into this issue in the future.

To recap, I had installed a Nautic Laugic NL4 to solve some intermittent paddle wheel issues I was seeing. The unit functioned well for me and provided GPS speed input to both the analog speedometer and the Perfect Pass Wakeboard Pro. Unfortunately, my PP display was starting to falter, so I had to do the StarGazer upgrade.

The GPS receiver of the StarGazer system does not provide speed input to the analog gauge, so my options were to either go back to the paddle wheel input with its intermittent problems or just leave the analog speedo dead (which would drive me crazy).

The NL4 and Stargazer attach to the Gateway at different ports, so I decided to try leaving the NL4 in place (it made sense to me, at least). I'm happy to report that it worked, and I have a functioning analog speedo as well as a functioning Perfect Pass StarGazer.

I have a 2006 196 SE, so DBW, paddle wheel, and the original perfect pass digital pro. As we launched the boat, the speedometer is not working (perfect pass is working) In reading all the threads, it sounds like you used the NL4 GPS connector to replace the paddle whelel and it feeds the speed signal into the speedometer. How did you determine it was the paddle wheel not functioning vs the gauge ? Also, the NL4 seems expensive, is there a reason you close that option vs the Nautique GPS speedometer that looks like the replacement speedometer gauge? I was struggling with the $301 price on the GPS speedometer, but the NL4 is close to that price…. I may upgrade my perfect pass to Stargazer, as the display is blanking out again, already replaced the display once… but that will not fix the speedometer gauge, but would give the correct speed (current perfect pass read high by a few MPH and we have never been able to figure out how to adjust).

      appreciate any input…

mcbridek If you have the original PP Wakeboard Pro, and it works but your analog speedo doesn't, your paddlewheel isn't the problem, as it supplies speed input to both gauges. In my case, both the PP and analog speedo were on the fritz, so I knew it was the paddlewheel.

If you upgrade to StarGazer (your only option now as you can't get a new display for the Wakeboard Pro), you still won't have an analog speedo.

My guess is it's your analog speedo gauge. That Nautique GPS replacement is fugly, though.

Good luck, and be sure to post your resolution!
