Hi, I just bought a 2015 200V and it has a porpoising problem when hitting certain waves. I have have many different ballast weight configurations and the problem pretty is always there to some degree. No added weight seems to be the worst, but I also get it in wake board mode with all stock ballast filled. Any thoughts on what is happening and how to correct it? Should I be looking at the propeller? Never have this problem with my 1998 Sport Nautique. Thanks

I think you're correct to look at the prop first. I have a 16 200V and haven't noticed an issue and I'm on season 3. The stock prop is a Acme 381 which works great on mine even with piggyback bags for surfing filled. Past that I would check the tab and make sure it hasn't somehow been damaged and is working correctly. The only other thing I can think of short of some kind of hull damage would be how you're distributing weight in the boat. Mine is very sensitive to weight distribution especially right to left.

No plan assist on this, dare I suggest it let alone say it, older and smaller boat. It does have NCRS which is a small manually deployed tad on the transom. While it does help shape the wake for wakeboard and slalom it doesn't seem to affect the boat's overall ride characteristics drastically. At least not on mine.

Might be worth checking if the porpoising frequency is altered when the ncrs position is changed. Particular if your ncrs is software controlled and not set by a manual cable. The porpoising on some boats with plane assist is related to ncrs position.

Thanks. The only plane assist is them annually deployed type for skiing or boarding. I have primarily checked different ballast combo's but have paid much attention to the plane assist position when it occurs, but I would guess it doesn't make that much difference. What props are you guys running?

Bturner, switching subjects, what ballast and where are you adding for surfing? The stock setup on mine is middle ballast, two rear hard ballast and 2 bladders on top of the rear hard ballast. With the middle full and one side completely full and the other side 1/2 full, it is a very mediocre wake. Next step is to add more Fat Sac's and am looking for a place to start. Thanks.

I personally wouldn't do that. People seem to love to add all kinds of led, steel shot, and tons of ballast to get a boat to surf. Sure you need a considerable amount but I hate the idea of getting the boat so out of trim that you ruin the handling or are taking water over the bow all the time. This is a small boat and with my setup I personally feel it's about topped off with what I have and still handles very well.
I'm running stock ballast plus 2 piggy back bags in the rear, everything is full. No clue how much they weigh as I bought them used but when filled they leave about 10" from the bottom of the hatches. I'm running a Mission Delta II shaper which is absolutely key in getting a surfable wake out of this boat. We run at 10.2 MPH and need at least 10' water depth to establish a surf wake. I'm 6'1", weigh 225 (on a good day, too much beer in the summer) ride a Phase 5 Model X and have no issues whatsoever riding. I have lighter riders with smaller boards and none of them have any issues either. Do aggressive starts and the wake will develop quickly, you can be riding the wake in less than 500'. You do not need to lean this boat over to get a good wake, you just need a good shaper.
If you can't ride behind this boat set up like this it's time to look at the Indian and not the bow.....
