I just picked up a 2011 230 SAN TE last week and have a few questions. Hoping someone can shed some light...
- The boat has a pretty good vibration when accelerating. Once up to speed, it smooths out pretty well, but you can definitely feel it on low speed acceleration. Also, when in forward idle, there is an intermittent knock coming from the transmission (or v-drive). I've had this before when I switched a propeller on a 2000 SAN. The current prop on this boat is an ACME 1235. The previous owner said they just put that propeller on and it appears new. So, I'm at a bit of a loss.
- The boat ran great for a couple of hours, and then on the trip back to the dock, the engine started to surge up a bit, on and off (was running around 3200rpm). It is like it wouldn't hold a steady RPM, but kept surging up slightly and then back down, over and over. The boat feels good and strong when taking off, so I don't think it's a transmission issues. Could this just be some water or bad gas in the system that needs to get worked out? Or maybe a low-pressure fuel pump?
