Fuel control cell filter was HUGE PITA-bigger band clamp?

Hi all,
Replaced the filter today. I had to remove the dividers and carpet boards to get down alongside the engine.

Of course cut my hand ribbons on the band clamp but I could not seem to get that band clamp all the way around. The T-stem to catch the bolt is just a little too short.

Do you guys get fresh band clamps or longer t- stems to grab a little bit further to put it together?

I can honestly say it took me a good couple hours of wrestling to get it together and clamped - ugggh total newb!!!

If you think that was bad you should try to old screw on one. I don’t get a new clamp but mine is pretty easy and accessible. You could always try a new one and see how it works. I doubt new would make much of a difference though unless the stem were longer. I have no idea how to go about finding a longer t-stem.

On the old style, most people would remove it from the engine before trying to open it up. It is much easier on the bench.

I just replaced the clamp type fuel filter on my 2005 SV211T with ZR6 engine. I took the nut almost all the way off the T clamp then I was able to twist/ push down the canister. When I got the canister out of the boat I saw that whoever had y easy to put back replaced the filter previously had not pushed filter onto the fuel pump so the filter was jammed in the bottom of the canister… oops. It was pretty easy to put back together, I’m glad I have a working filter now.
