    V drive water drain, 2015, PCM343

Anyone have any tips for breaking loose the 1/2” plug in the v drive? Squirted with penetrant, using a 1/2” socket drive and it won’t budge. Thanks!

I had a stuck one in one of my boats. I realized though that since I sucked in rv anti-freeze thru the system there was no way it could have water in it.

That being said, the only advice I would have would be to get some extensions and maybe get to a spot where you can get a breaker bar, and/or a piece of pipe over the ratchet.

Ian, I do have a heat gun, I’ll give it a try…I’ll see if I can dig up a pipe to use as leverage as well

I used a 12" drive, 3' long breaker with I believe a 3" extension on it to clear the end of the vDrive. The hardest part was supporting the bottom of the breaker to keep it from moving. Mine started to move after about 3 bumps. Another thought depending on room might be a 1/2" universal joint with an extension and a impact gun.

Soak it in PB Blaster? Rarely do I give kudos to a product...but that stuff works.

              Maybe this will help....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxFA08qRSoY

Unfortunately if yours is like mine, tons. I was shocked. If you absolutely can't get it out I would consider draining everything else and go to the "running the antifreeze through the block" method of pickling the engine. You basically run the engine on a hose until hot then swap out water for antifreeze in a bucket and run until you see a good flow of antifreeze coming out the exhaust. Not my favorite but there are a lot of people that swear by it.

The first year I had my boat it was stubborn so I used a breaker bar and extension. I propped the extension up on a block to help keep it stable. I did hit it with PB blaster every few hours starting a day or so before.
