I have a 2010 226TE with Linc 1.0 - it has lost all brightness (even though brightness is 100%) You can only see the display when the sun is behind you. Everything works - all the menu's etc, its just you can barely see it in daylight - if you turn on Navigation it goes pretty much all black. Seems like some kind of backlight issue or something - local Nautique dealer was uninterested and not helpful in any way. Anyone else experience this, know what the issue is or what could be the fix - option of over 6.5k CDN for Linc 2.0 is hard to swallow given the current system has full functionality, just really hard to see.... Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I think about two years ago I made a comment here about displays and electronic packages becoming an issue as boats aged out. At the time many were commenting that issues were not there and if there was a failure it was rare. Unfortunately this is the second post today on display issues here and I saw one on the other site today as well. While many will still say this is still rare tell that to the guy that needs to spend "new engine" kind of money to a new display. While this still may seem rare is anyone these types of failures will occur more or less as the years go by?
What really stinks about these types of issues is that there is no easy or cheap fix available. That said aftermarket marine can bus displays are becoming available that can support devices from multiple manufactures and at a fraction of the price of what's being charged for an OEM display. The only issue is that they only support open source devices which I don't believe any of the ski boat manufactures are using for things like ballast. Sooner or later the marine industry is going to need to address this or find themselves with a shrinking secondary market which is required to feed new boat sales.
So with all that being said there's a guy on that other ski boat site that has been repairing displays. It might be worth dropping him a PM and see if he can be of any assistance.....
