211 leaky oil filter fitting

can anyone make a reccomendation on fixing my oil filter fitting ?

it leaks no matter what oil filter is used (i pretty much use the pcm)..any suggestions ?

Some people have found that the black paint from the PCM factory is oversprayed onto the remote oil filter mount mating surface. People have had good luck scraping (carefully!) the paint off and eliminating the leak that way.

Mike, that was the exact problem I had, and as jeff says, i took a mirror with the filter off and saw the overspray. easy scrape. problem solved. dee

Check, for my 2004 216 there was a tech note about a oil leak on the adapter for the remote filter. Check with the dealer.

Chk also if the old filter rubber ring stick on the engine or not.

sounds to me like they've nailed the problem, but just incase........
do u lube up the o-ring prior to installation?
do u ever notice that the o-ring is torn?
how tight do u tighten it?

My ’04 SN196 developed a leak at the oil filter shortly after I took delivery. The symptom was a small amount of oil that would puddle in the top lip of the filter can. My dealer knew about the tech note that Christopher refers to above and they installed new O-rings on the hose fittings that screw into the filter adapter. The problem just started again last week at around 130 hours so I guess it’s time for new O-rings.
