Diacom software

Is there any way to get the Diacom software without spending $600 plus buying the appropriate adapter? Since I have an 08 with the inability to get hours now that the thing is stuck at 999.9, you would think they would at least offer something cheaper or an easy way to connect. Does anyone have a copy or are each one of them protected with individual licenses. I thought I remembered at one time each copy could be installed on 3 or 4 devices... Ugh Would be nice to be able to see the basic codes if something isn't working right as well.

You could go with their handheld scan tool, but for $170 more I'd rather have the complete software.

I've wanted the software for awhile now, but never really needed it so couldn't justify the cost. The nice thing is you can use it on any boat, just have to have the appropriate adaptor to plug in. Might be something you and a few friends could split the cost of to use together.

Codemate is around $100 for basic codes and clearing them.

MEFIburn and Codemate only work on engine with a MEFI ECUs.

Diacom works on just about any marine engine ever made. Including most outboard engines with electronic ECUs. Diacom also lets you read and monitor a pretty wide range of engine parameters while the engine is running. Which is often far more useful and important than just reading engine codes. Especially if you record baselines for your engine before you have a problem. Then when you have a problem, you can compare current reading to the previous baselines.

I should add that for Diacom to be the most useful, you really need a pretty in-depth understanding of how modern electronic engine control systems work. It's not like you plug it in and tells you exactly what's wrong. It just lets you examine a lot of the engine control parameters in real time. But to be useful, you have to be able to interpret that information.
