    2016 230 - Remove rear tanks?

On my previous 2008 230, like a lot of people I removed the rear tanks and installed 1100 bags. Obviously the increased ballast was awesome, but so was engine access and storage space when the bags were empty. I'm thinking about doing the same on my 2016 (tanks are L shaped). It looks like it would be a one-way trip for the tanks (i.e. cut them out). Has anyone done this?

I thought about doing this and decided not to. I put in the exact fit 650 on each side and kept the hard tanks. I like the factory tanks for wakeboarding when you don't need a lot of weight. You can still see the gauges and know where your levels are at.
The big downside tradeoff is that you don't get the extra space in those compartments when you're working on the engine. That would be nice!!
I had an older X30 that I took the side hard tanks out of those compartments. The room in those compartments was great. This would be the same in the 230 if you did take them out.
As far as weight I have in the boat:
2- 650 on top of the hard tanks in the rear.
1- 400 arrow sack under the front seats. I think you can only get 300 lbs in this sack.
300 lbs. of lead under the front seats.
What I found is that when you load everything up there is a point that it does not make the wakeboard wake that much better. It does put a lot more strain on the engine.
I am in shallow water so that may have an impact on it??

If you start to get below 10-12 feet of water under the hull more weight is not going to do anything for your wave.
