07' 211 smoky smell from tranny area when pulling towables

agreed that pulling towables provides a heavier load, but would the transmission get so hot on a new engine to maybe cause the paint to burn. couldnt find the source. returned to dock, let it cool off, checked all fluid levels, seemed ok, tried it again and was less agressive. this time didnt notice the smoky smell.

i read the earlier post about oil leaking at the filter. should i look there next time. anyone have a feel for where the light smoke was coming from. a peek in the engine well exhibited light smoke from low, but its hard to tell for sure. thanks

It's not uncommon for a new engine to smoke... like... off the block. It's caused by a number of things, paint setting, chemicals burning off... ect. Monitor it and keep an eye on your guages, but you're probably fine. I bet it's doing it not only when there are towables, that's just when you noticed it. Just keep an eye on it. Wouldn't hurt to call the dealer or someone.

IF THAT BOAT WAS LAKE TESTED BEFORE YOU BOUGHT IT ANYTHING LIKE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BURNED OFF. HOW MANY HRS? ID MAKE SURE YOU DID CLOG UP TRANS COOLER. DO YOU HAVE A SEA STRAINER?

It can take over 15 hrs to burn off. It shouldn't have been tested THAT much.
