    1994 GT40 Camshaft gear material

Hi, I am about to put in a Holley Sniper EFI Hyperspark distributor and the guidance it gives is that it comes with a “cast gear”, and that I should contacting the camshaft manufacturer for recommended gear material.

Can anyone give me guidance on this? Either the stock cam manufacturer or what gear material I need.
    Thanks!

Really all depends if you have a flat tappet lifter or roller lifter cam. 1994 is the year Ford started casting their 351W blocks for the potential to use roller lifter camshafts from the factory. I'm not sure when or if at all PCM started using roller cams in their engines. Really should contact PCM and give them your engine serial number to figure out what it came with.

Here is some useful info for selecting distributor gears based on camshaft material...

PCM "used" whatever Ford supplied them with. Ford never offered roller camshafts in their marine/industrial engines but like previously stated the blocks are ready to accept one. Originally it would be cast. Check the gear you have in it now or if in doubt that it may have been changed check some Ford truck or Mustang sites on how to determine if it does have a roller in it- there are certain places to look into the engine to see the lifters

Hmm now I'm in a quandary.... I just called PCM, gave them my SN, and they said roller cam. So according to the chart you sent Jason (thank you for that!), I should just get a composite gear and all will be good. Thanks to you both for your guidance.
