      That really isn't that uncommon. You didn't really think that weld was that smooth did you? They do the same with hot rod frames and just about any other component that needs a smooth finish in a radius. If done right, with the right product and assuming the component is made correctly, there's absolutely no issues doing so and it'll last the life of the product. If it's used to cover a bad weld, too thickly applied or used to cover a poor structural design then you get cracks and fakes. Hence my concern with this one.

      To call it Bondo as in the plastic body filler from the 70s is really a misnomer. There are many types of filler out there these days and some specifically made for this type of application that will stand up to the powder coating process. Your Grandpa's Bondo has come a long way in 50 years.
