    ballast gauge stuck on full?

The factory ballast gauge on my '01SAN is stuck on full. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get this working. I have tried to stomp on the top of the tank (dealer's suggestion), but it has not worked yet.

May be you have a bad water level sensor, disconnect one cable of the ballast tank sensor,if the pointer will go back to 0 or you have a bad guage.

Thank you, I will look into the sensor. The other side was stuck on empty, and clubmyke drove the boat around and was able to free it up for me. After leaving the lake last weekend the port side would not show empty. I am not sure if there is a way of freeing this one if it is in fact stuck on full.

          Ballast sensor

I experienced broken a gap in the ballast sensor so water go inside and corrosive the PCB,this cause the sensor open circuit,so the sensor pointer will stay with 0.

Mike, I am thinking it is just sticky also, but how can I get it down. I understand how the other was able to move, as you got the water rushing in, it must have jarred it loose. If it is stuck at the top, what is going to make it shake loose?

We were not able to make it out yesterday either, the crew going with us was not feeling well.

              Ballast sensor problem

              khaz:khaz:
Cut one wire of the pair wire of ballast sensor near the sensor on the ballast tank, (there is a joint), the pointer of the guage will fall to 0,(if the sensor is shorted).vise versa, short the two wire of th sensor the guage will jump to full,( if the sensor is open),the photos shows a good sensor, and a bad sensor caused by water leak and i'm going to remake the reed switch sensor PCB inside the tube.

where can get new ballast sensor

Yes, it's not easy to make a sensor, even I'm an electronic eng.since the damaged sensor is too bad to follow, If I know where can get a new one, I would rather to change a new one.

RE: where can get new ballast sensor

Ditto, I have a flaky port side ballast sensor on our '01 AIR. If someone finds a source and price for these, please post.

I talked to a mechanic, and he sent me to www.wemausa.com. He suggested that I go with the stainless steel ones, since they will last longer. They are model SSS, $40 each on this site. My boat calls for the 6" sensors. I hope this helps.
