should i worry about cold evening?

hi all - just put our boat in to enjoy the beautiful weekend. and now i am noticing that this coming week the evening that was supposed to be around 30 deg is slated to dip down to 25ish for an hour or two before dawn. will be in 40s that day then below freezing 1am to sunrise. wonderin g if this is enough to worry about? 5hr round trip to run engine up to temp to avoid problem. no power at dock for light or heater….. what do people think?

Always been told 24 deg for 24 hrs is when you need to dump the water

That type of calculated risk at the beginning of the boating season gives me anxiety…it makes me think of all sorts of things freezing, like small hoses bursting, heater core cracking, heat exchanger troubles, raw water filter bottle cracking… I'd make the road trip for peace of mind. Prevention is worth a worry free boating season

I use a bilge Xtreme heater in situations like this, works like a charm provided you can get power down to it.
