99 air nautique cutless leg repairs

So I figured out why the cutless bearings wore out. The leg doesn’t point straight at the hole for the packing in the bottom of the boat. My question is can I just unscrew the cutless screws and redo it, or are there nuts inside the boat? What sort of sealant is between cutless leg and boat hull? Is there a diy or how to for lining this up?

There will be nuts inside the boat for the strut. It should have also been bedded in sealant (i.e. 3m 4200 or the like). Generally when the strut is out of alignment with the shaft log, it means the strut took a hit and is bent (unless it was installed misaligned originally). If the strut isn't bent or twisted (which would require repair/replacement), then it's a matter of loosening all the bolts to lower the strut, clean off all the old sealant, do a dry fit to the correct position (mark this if possible), put on sealant and reinstall. Depending on the sealant you use, you'll have varying amounts of time to align it correctly before it starts to set-up and cure
