New boat owner of a 2007 SAN 236 with a brand new PCM engine. I am 7 hrs into break in period on engine. Yesterday, after a proper warmup and all was well, I gunned it and it felt like the "prop spun" then caught and accelerated and ran well. It has done that a time or two before. However, after we ran a while with no problems and stopped, the gear stick would go into neutral position but the boat itself was still being propelled. If I tried to go to reverse it would make a noise. I was able to stop the boat and restart but the boat would immediately jump forward upon cranking implying it was not in neutral. Thoughts? I would appreciate your help and I am new to this so hopefully I can answer any further questions you may havae.

New engine? Like it was replaced? Was the trans removed at the same time?
I'd start with simple stuff. Verfiy the transmission cable is correctly adjusted and reconfirm the right amount of fluid is in the unit.Last edited by SilentSeven; 05-10-2022, 12:51 PM.2004 206 Air Nautique Limited - Black with Vapor Blue (family style)

I agree. The cable is probably not properly adjusted, or there may be an internal problem with the transmission. The neutral safety switch is obviously not connected or not adjusted properly either, which is a huge safety issue. I would get that boat to a repair shop quickly and have those concerns addressed.
Also, just FYI, the 236 is not a SAN (Super Air Nautique). The SAN version of that hull (called the Super Air Nautique 230) did not come out until the following year (2008). Your boat is a Sport Nautique 236.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina.
