I'm brand new to the site. I have a 2007 Air Nautique 220 TE. I just replaced both batteries. Running a Cold Crank for starting and Deep Cycle for Accessories. I replaced the starter at the end of last season 2021 Fall, but I'm still having issues starting the boat. I trickle charge the night before I take it out on the lake so I'm seeing that the green "Fully Charged" lights are on the charger. Sometimes it starts up the very first push of the push start, but other times, if I'm starting it up for the first time on the ramp, it will take about 2-3 seconds before fully engaging the engine. I will let go of the push start and press again and then it will eventually start. At first I thought it was the Starter, so I changed the starter. Same issue. Then I thought it was a cold crank issue, so I changed both batteries. Same issue. Then I thought, maybe the ground isn't dispersing enough on the existing ground, which is where I'm at.
I think that the grounding issue could've damaged the starter, so changing out the starter again and adding another ground could be the answer. Has anyone had a starting issue like this before? I don't know how else to describe the sound it makes when trying to start up, but it's like a bunch of metal slamming together, maybe like the pistons aren't lining up to fire? Please help.
