GT40 - Cleaning cooling system parts

I'm in the process of restoring my 96 SN. The engine runs like a champ but is due for routine service. I'm replacing hoses, thermostat, impeller, and possibly the manifolds and risers. While I've got the cooling system parts off the motor, I'd like to clean up the rust and scale build up and repaint. Looking for tips on cleaning, stripping, and repainting. Thanks in advance!

I use a glass bead blaster. It does a fantastic job.

I may resort to that but looking for a chemical product in the meantime that I can soak it in. CLR maybe?
