Chatter in the wheel.... 2012 sport 200

I'm getting a little bit of chatter when getting up on plane while towing, noticed it more with heavier pulls. Any advice on what to evaluate/adjust would be much appreciated! Thanks

Very likely you have a slight bend in a prop blade or two. You may not even be able to see it. I suggest having the prop refinished and balanced by a reputable repair shop.

I had some chatter in the wheel when pulling a surfer out of the water. Mine was not an out of balance prop. Dealer said to put a few hose clamps around the steering cable, I guess to add a little resistance to the cable and dampen the chatter. That worked to stop the chatter. But, also, a few weeks later I found my rudder packing was loose and leaking a bit (just drops). I could see that also causing chatter, if the rudder could move a little more than it should in the packing. I adjusted the packing nut to stop the leak.

You might first check your rudder packing, and if it's good, try the hose clamp trick. Bother are cheaper than a new prop.

Thank you, yes it does feel like something under the column may just be loose. I'll check the packing as well.
