    Gt 40 no crank

I have a 2000 ski nautique with gt 40, all I hear is a clicking noise at relay back of motor,
I had the starter tested at auto parts store, changed the battery from the pontoon boat.
I am having the battery tested today.

    What else should I check?

Do you hear the fuel pump kick in when you put the ignition into the run position? Do you have the keypad or a traditional key?

I'm going to assume the battery is OK at this point. When did the boat last start?

      Verify first

      - Throttle position - make sure in neutral
      - Ignition safety switch - connected, functional

Check other higher draw electrical items...do they work?

      - Heater fan if you have one?

      - Then start looking at the starting system

Cable connections clean, clamped tight on both ends. Ground and hot.
Find what's clicking on crank - should be the relay. If you need to, disconnect the battery and test the relay with a meter.

Let us know what you find out.

Keypad, it started last week no problems.
sounds like the relay back of engine clicks
        Not sure about fuel pump.
how do you properly test relay with battery disconnected?

The starter, ignition and fuel pump relays are not expensive, you could just swap in new ones. You then have spares if that’s not it. A failing neutral safety switch won’t give you anything, so the clicking tells me it’s trying to start. Faulty lanyard safety switch will crank but not fire as they typically short out the fuel pump, so that’s probably not it. Was the battery you swapped in off the pontoon boat the same or better from a CCA perspective than the starter battery in your SN?

The clicking is probably the starter solenoid, first clean your battery cable ends real good if you have the replacement type ends that clamps the wire with two bolts and a pinch plate take it apart and clean cable and clamp real good (wire brush). Then try it, also check the voltage of the battery it should be 12.4ish

I appreciate all the advice, turned out to be bad battery and a defective new starter from dealership that made troubleshooting take longer
