    Glove Box Gas Strut

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue:

Last summer, I replaced the strut that supports the overly-heavy glovebox lid on our '07 SV211. NautiqueParts sells a Master Lift ML31-20, which is a 20 lb lift force strut. Well, by the end of the summer, that would no longer keep the lid open.

I decided to try a 30 lb strut. I found a compatible strut at Lift Supports Depot. It's a little skinnier, but the lengths are correct, and it fits just fine. And it keeps the lid open!

So far, it seems to be the ticket. See the pics for the model number I used.

Yea. The Gas Struts in these boats are not OEM specific. All that really matters is the length and the strength. As you've seen, you can go up a bit on the strength if what's there isn't doing the job. The ends that connect to the various brackets and joints are interchangeable.

I upgraded my glove box and also my chase lounge shocks to higher resistance as well. So much happier. Used same place as yourself.

Have owned the boat for 14 years.. I think the gas shock have worked 2 of those years, I have replaced them a large number of times. I don't like the design and can't fathom why they used such a heavy glovebox cover. Have thought about making a new one.. then I get distracted. Will probably just continue to complain and not do anything
