For sure some lessons learned. And sometime someone should try to slide the front ballast tank back and see if they can get to the sending unit without removing the gas tank.
I actually had my teenage sons help me hoist down the gas tank everything was so oily and slimy I wanted to really clean the tank and the bilge as well. So I went all out. Totally my fault, but I didn’t burn out nearly as much gas over the weekend as I thought. So the tank weighed a ton, Ended up dumping out probably 15 gallons into Jerry cans.
But really you could just pull off the fuel hoses from the gas tank stand it up on end and leave it in the boat while you pull the ballast tank back and replace the ballast sending unit.
The ballast has two brackets across the back with lag bolts. And two bolts on either side up in the ski locker.
The replacement sending unit had no harness connection so I just Soldered mine to the harness so I know I had good contact. And tested it before I put it back together.
If you do this put small towels over all the non-skid little step areas and cover all the seats and certainly the back deck, if you pull the tank out of the boat. Harbor freight moving blankets can’t have enough protection to keep your stuff clean lol!
