If the steering is getting difficult, the most likely culprit is a bad cable. I wish it was a simple fix like injecting a bit of grease into the cable, but it usually means cable replacement.

Disconnect the cable from the rudder tiller arm and try the steering. This will tell you if the cable is the issue or the rudder needs to be dropped and serviced.

Replacing the cable can be done within reason. Here are the overall steps I did for my 06SANTE:
Remove the rear driver side ballast tank for rudder access.
Remove the old cable best as possible I ended up cutting mine down along the fuel tank to remove it into pieces.
Ran the new cable along the driver side gunnel and made an S-curve ahead of the engine into the compartment.
It was much easier than trying to run it back through the dash and much quicker to install. The cable does cross through the seat storage but it's literally no issue at all. Been two years like that and it works great and was very fast to install!
I appreciate the guys that were able to successfully struggle through pulling a new cable back through the dash and running it down the center of the boat!
