2016 G21 Intermittently Wont Shift Into Gear

Boat worked fine last year, no issues. Stored it over the winter, and had the dealer do the annual maintenance including a software update. Just took the boat out for the first time this year (I know right), and it intermittently wouldn't shift into gear. When you push the throttle forward or backwards, the neutral button would light up as if it was being depressed.

The first time it did it, I figured just a little hiccup since it worked fine for an hour or so after that. Then we tried to move to a swimming cove and it wouldn't shift into gear. After ten minutes of messing with it it finally went into gear and we headed over to the swimming hole. After swimming, it would not engage so we started paddling back to the launch. After 1/2 hour my brother in law tried giggling it and it finally went into gear and we limped ourselves back to the dock.

Any thoughts? Just a bad neutral switch?

I have a G20 and this happened to me. The first remedy was to connect and disconnect the leads on the solenoid attached to the transmission. This worked for a while, two trips later and 2 tows later it ended up needing a new transmission. Hopefully it's the solenoid on your boat.

That would not be ideal! My warranty just expired.

I messed with it at home last night for a while. When the neutral button is working, it makes a noise best described as a 'click' when depressed. Can anyone confirm this is normal?

When it decides to not work, it does not make a clicking noise when depressed. I started the boat in my driveway when I noticed it was clicking. Went into gear fine. Then the button stopped clicking when depressed and the boat would still go into gear but would not go into neutral. Sure seems like it is just the button failing. I disconnected the button from the wire harness completely and the boat still starts and goes into gear so I think I should be able to use it this weekend while waiting for new parts.
