Tough reference here, is that a 1/4" hose or a 3/4" hose, you have big hands or little hands. A dime, a quarter, a pencil. A reference point man, lol.
Yes that does for some reason look smaller, I just replaced my old one but haven't used it yet. I'll have to take a look at it. Everything is smaller & less these days, so it seems.
You won't short yourself at the water trough though, just turn the hose up, unless you plan on running it at 5500 rpm.

Thanks. The inside diameter is about 5/16". A knowledgable neighbor said that it was smaller than others he's seen but thought it'd still be OK so we just gave it a try and boat started and ran OK with sufficient water flowing through the filter.

Hmm, I wish I would made a closer inspection of the new one, I think I just tossed it on the shelf and never really looked at it. It would of definitely been on it's way back for return. There is a noticeable difference not only in orifice size, but also girth and height. The old one measures about 11/16" ID, and I can't even stick a pen into the new one. SkiTundra, yours looks like a happy medium between the 2.
For sale: one never used fake-a-lake, cheap, lol.
