2002 - 210 rear engine hood removal, new skins

purchased new skins for rear seats and engine hood and storage areas. Everything went on fine until the center hood. Can’t remove the screws from the hing that is screwed into the deck material. Screws just spin. There are only 8 or so holding it in but I can’t get any of them out! Anyone come across this. I did some research and some have said these are held in with bolts, not screws? Next step is just cut the old vinyl out but I’d rather know whats under there first. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks.

Yes bolted on. I had the same question. I have a picture from "engine locker removal" post of mine couple years ago.
