2022 g23 - dtc172?

We have a brand-new G23 with the ZZ8. It is two weeks old with 24.5 hours. First we had a burned-up intercooler pump last week. That was fixed under warranty.

This weekend, while lake-testing the new intercooler pump we got the "DTC 172: Adaptive-learn gasoline bank1 low" error. I read in other posts this may be an O2 sensor? It needs to go for the first oil change this week, and we'll have the dealer take a look. I'm hoping our first couple weeks are not indicative of a future string of issues?

PS - the error puts the boat into limp mode. But shutting off the engine and cycling the battery makes the error go away and puts things back to normal.

That's the engine (fuel) management program hitting a low limit, or too low and not high enough for O2 (oxygen) trim. The oxygen sensor does report mixture back to the ECM and it adjusts the fuel accordingly.

So with a scanner they should be able to see the problem. Sometimes it's an air leak creating lean condition. In any case, bank#1 it's off spec.

It kinda comes with the territory when you buy a newly introduced engine without a few years to work out all the kinks. It's going to be especially true for an engine like the ZZ8 that's tuned for super high HP per liter. Lots of complicated technology to generate that high output power. So there are a lot more systems and components to cause problems.

We took it to our dealer today, who managed to flash an update that has apparently been solving this issue. We live at pretty high elevation (our preferred reservoir is at 7600' elevation). Hopefully that does the trick.

That engine has been available since the 2021 model year, it's the same one I have... it's going into it's third year of service so I wouldn't call it newly introduced anymore.

I wanted to follow up to my own post in the hope that it helps somebody else. We spent a day on the water again today (at high elevation) and the new ECM update has apparently solved the issue. The challenge is that the motors do not come from the factory with the updated ECM and need to be flashed. Man do we love this boat!
