Does anyone know how to remove the bracket holding the engine compartment gas shock?

I need to replace the bracket circled in red. I don't have my boat available to look at the moment. Does anyone know if this requires removing the vinyl or if it's tucked under the foam? Also, does anyone know what size/weight shock this is?

I am assuming this is a valid question..?

If you want to replace an existing gas strut, measure the length of your strut from the center of each ball joint. There should also be labeling on the strut to indicate size and weight as seen on your strut on the left side. Amazon is a replacement source along with several other shops that specialize in gas struts.

Without peeling the foam, I can't confirm what you'll need to do.

So jhoffy22 , you said bracket, my bad. The ones in the past that I have removed for re-upholstery and what not are screwed in to the cushion backing. I think maybe you pull the strut, you'll see the mounting screws, pretty sure of it...

Still had the cover off. Here's a pic with the strut disconnected.
