Steering assist seems stuck to the right on 2019 G23

The steering assist appears to be stuck in the right rudder position in auto. It doesn’t matter which way the wheel is turned the display shows full right in amber when selected off and full right in blue when on. When you put it in auto it works to the right but not to the left. It seems like it thinks it is in a full right turn. Also it appears that the exhaust is coming out of the upper outlet all the time and not the snorkel at all speeds. It works as advertised it the manual mode. I don’t really need the auto mode but I can smell exhaust when surfing. Anybody know how to reset it so the exhaust comes out the snorkel? Click image for larger version

No. Different problem. Most likely his rudder position sensor is bad.

No time to take it into the dealer. I’m not sure if it’s still under warranty, it’s my friends new (to him) boat. Hoping someone knew a way to reset the system. I think we will try the reboot described in the power steering post that JPWHIT referred to. I’m surprised no one has had this same issue. I’ll let you guys know if it works.

Try unhooking the batteries for 30 min or so and then reconnecting them.

Tried turning off the battery and it reset the display but when we tried the steering assist in auto it failed again. I think it’s probably the rudder position sensor like charlesml3 said. The seasons over and the boat will be going into the shop so I’ll report what they figured out.

Please do come back and let all of us know what they did to fix it.

                  Thanks a ton!

My 2021 is doing the exact same thing, although we never put it in auto mode and always use manual so I haven't noticed anything other than the gauge being wrong... the thruster works both ways in manual mode. Not sure about the upper exhaust though, haven't paid attention to that.My dealer fixed it for us last time they did work on it, but it happened again last time we were out. I'll try to ask them how they solved it last time to see if I can do it myself or just have them fix it again when they winterize it.

We went back out again yesterday to try out our new foil (very fun, highly recommend) and as a test I put the thruster in auto-high and it immediately was trying to do 360's to the right no matter where I turned the wheel. It works fine both ways in manual, but there is absolutely something wrong with it and I'll have to get the dealer to look at it again.

Our steering position sensor was bad and it was replaced last off season. However, it appears to be bad again. I will report back with our findings or a better resolution. Our dealer mentioned this isn't an uncommon problem.
