I have a 2009 SAN byerly editino with pcm zr409. Boat went into limp mode at idle speeds with all gauges reading normal. If I shut off the boat it goes away and will drive normal until I reduce speed and begin to idle again. Oil pressure and temp seam to be perfect and the engine sounds and runs great. I am in a river system and to suck up allot of particulate into the fresh water system. I have to clean filter every time we leave our slip. Not sure where to start.

Could the issue be that I have a clog in the freshwater system that is allowing the exhaust manifold to overheat? Would this put the boat into limp mode?

Not an uncommon thing to see pop up. Where are you at on the year over year upkeep?
Look under your distributor is it corroded and overdue?
I just grabbed a kit w cap/rotor/plugs/wires. Mine was probably original - uggh!
And several folks also replace throttle body/sensor as a common culprit. I replaced mine too.
So this can come down to the gremlin category- start covering all your bases ;-)

I have the pcm zr409 motor which doesn't have a distributor. I just purchased the boat and it only has 112 hrs on it. I have done a full tune up on it. We had a very heavy rain event and the village had about 8-10” of water in it prior to us going out last. Could this have been the culprit with some electrical connections maybe. Does any one know what sensors are part of the limp mode circuit. I know in older models this was only the oil pressure switch sensor and temp sensor switch. Is it the same on my motor or are there other sensors that could trip this. IE knock sensor or exhaust temp sensor.
