    2004 Nautique 226 "see dealer"

I recently acquired a 2004 Nautique 226. On Sunday we took it out and it ran fine for the first 10 minutes, then we took it in and filled the tank and drove to the other end of the lake, mb 15-20 minutes, again all was fine. Then we shut off the boat and ate some lunch.

When we re-started the boat it went into a limp mode where above 2000 rpm it would cut power, felt like a mis-fire, and the tach display was flashing "see dealer". All other gauges oil, temp etc were fine. We turned it off and back on but no change so we slowly limped it back to the dock.

I had the dealer check it out and they said there are no codes stored and everything seems fine, they've taken it for a couple drives and not had the problem reoccur. This sounds strange to me as it was definitely flashing "see dealer" in the display.

Is this legit? Or should even a temporary issue that throws a code have the data stored and readable, like a car? Thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

Today I had some time and went to the lake. I recreated the circumstances of the last occasion, and the boat obliged with another 10mph limp mode back to the dock. I called the dealer on the way back in and left the boat running so as not to lose any codes. They came out and performed the scan and it's showing a high temp code on the tranny. Fluid level is good. Hoping it's a bad sensor....

Dealer says it is a bad sensor, they should have it installed by tomorrow, so I should be able to take it for a drive before it's time to winterize.

Dealer ordered and installed the new sensor and it did not solve the problem. They are currently investigating the problem and it's obviously stumping them...

This has happened to me a couple of times. I normally just turn the engine off for a few minutes and let it sit. After a couple minutes of running again its back to normal. Normally happens to me shortly after startup.

It's been a while, but I thought I'd update. The boat was fixed and it's fine now, the problem was the sensor. I honestly think that the dealer didn't order and install the part when they were supposed to, and just gave the excuse that they did in order to buy some time.
