Distributor for 2008 343 excal

Do i need to buy a year model specific distributor for my 08 343 excal or any marine distributor will work?
Will new distributor (cam shaft sensor) need to be programmed?

If you need a new distributor, I would use the serial number off the engine and be sure you get the correct one...

Im having an issue with the advance. New long block and now caution light comes on. When I accelerate. No loss of power, just the light.
Distributor is set to factory specs of 16* btdc for cam shaft sensor.
Nobody seems to have any idea whats going on. Was suggested that i start with a new distributor at this point.
