H6 thermostat gasket orientation

Hi guys, putting in a new thermostat in my 200 with the H6 motor, and the new one came with a housing gasket with a rubber bead on one side. Which way do I orient it when I put it in. There wasn’t a gasket in there when I took the old one out - it just had the black rubber o-ring around the thermostat itself. Mine is raw water cooled.

According to my local Nautique service dept, on the H6 engine you don’t use the paper gasket that’s included with the replacement - the o-ring on the thermostat itself is sufficient.
