How do I remove the rear seat on a 2000 Air Nautique?

I tried and tried. Need the 2 seat cushions removed to get them recovered. How can I get it removed so I can access the screws on the back?

Anybody have any ideas? I didn't think to look at pulling the engine hatch, that might free up enough room. Does anyone know if that will do it, and what is involved in doing so? My boat is in a storage building 20 minutes away.

19Delta you should be able to turn the seat bottom base enough without removing the engine cover. I had a 2001 Sport Nautique with this same seat design and removed it several times to replace either the seat skins or to access the sending units without any issues. A bit awkward twisting of the seat base but still possible without removing the engine cover.

Pulling the engine hatch is easy. Two pins at the plastic hinges. Takes 30 seconds. Then you can lift the entire engine hatch out. That'll give you plenty of room.

I see you just have the upholstered part lifted in the picture. You'll want to reach down in the front and unhook the rubber catches that allow the entire base to lift. Then reclip the upholstered part down and raise the entire thing with the base. Then you'll see the plastic hinges at the back with the two pins. Just pull the pins, slide the engine box back, and lift it out.
