    Extend factory warranty to 2028?

I'm buying a 2020 G23 with 118 hours and the factory warranty is good until July 2025 (or 1,000 hrs). Dealer has offered to extend this same warranty (and keep it transferrable) for 3 additional years until July 2028. Cost is $5,700.

We will likely use the boat less than 75 hours a year.

I'm leaning against this offer, but was hoping for some input from this site.

10 yrs ago I would have said no. Today with so many threads on early expensive techy gizmo problems, if you plan on keeping the boat that long, maybe an ok investment.

It’ll pay for itself the first time your Linc screen goes out.

Are you SURE this is an extension of the factory warranty and not some aftermarket warranty?

I have never heard of Nautique offering a warranty option like this, and their warranty page doesn't say anything about any such offer.

Just added another 4 years and 70K miles to the Tahoe warranty this fall after a friend had the dreaded sticking lifter with bent pushrod occur on his. About $4500 to repair but he was still in warranty. Seems like more and more "new and improved" cars, trucks and boats are breaking major and expensive components these days. If I were buying a newer surf ship and could get that warranty I would take it in a minute based on all the stories I've heard on here.

Jeff makes a good point though on who's providing the warranty. I only buy the manufacture warranties for my stuff. No never know about the third party stuff, I've heard of several scams.

Ugh, that Chevy issue took out my Tahoe early--I had them drop a salvaged motor in it and traded in it on a Sequoia--should have never strayed.

Upon further review......it is an aftermarket warranty provided by Passport Premier, a Brunswick company.
I have attached the PDF flyers.

              BPPC SURF ACCESSORY.pdf
              BPPC INBOARD WAKEBOARD.pdf

              These were dealer's words:

Being that this boat is considered preowned because of the usage and the hours, this is something worth considering in my opinion.
So, your remaining factory warranty through Nautique is valid through July of 2025 or when it hits 1000 hours. Whichever occurs first. Therefore there are roughly 2.5 years remaining.
That being said, because the factory warranty is still in effect, I am able to offer y'all the option to extend the warranty out to July of 2028 for the same price if you would have bought the boat new! This would wrap around the current factory coverage, extend it, and enhance it. Factory warranties are limited so this is a great option to consider.
The coverage would cover the motor as well as accessories including electronics, wake shaping system, the tower, and so much more. I have attached the coverage details in this email. The great thing is that it is only a $25 deductible for claims. The price for this is $5675.

I underlined the sentence where she references "factory warranties"

I would have to read that end to end and see exactly what is covered. Also, Is there an option to raise the deductible to say $200? $500 and lower the premium? Labor rate is so high now that if the warranty is reputable and your dealer stands behind it - works directly with this company, then maybe consider it.

Could you (or anyone here) direct me to some of these threads. I have searched Issues with Linc Panoray, but did not come up with any recent results.

Here's one on the hull cracking that RDT has active.....

                    https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...ns-23s-and-25s

Over the last couple years I've read of stuff from wiring issues going to the LED lights to software issues with Linc system. Let's face it these are complex boats with multiple computer systems controlling everything. Add the Covid workforce factor to this and everything/anything is on the table as far as possible issues go. This isn't a Nautique thing as almost every company manufacturing gear is having similar issues. The topic of complex boats with complex systems aging out is frequently discussed here as well as all the other boating forums. In the end I think buying any newer boat with these systems is going to be a problem as these boats age out. It's not like you're buying a 90's Nautique or ProStar where all you really worried about was the condition of the drivetrain or gel coat.

Fish, did I read that the extended warranty was transferrable?
That might be attractive on the re-sale as you get a few years and few hours down road.
I would of used a chunk of that extended warranty last Summer, and hoping we have all the bugs worked out for clean sailing this Summer (did I say that out loud?)
Just got my '19 Super Duty back from the Dealer, 48,000 miles and out of Warranty. $1200 bill cost me $100 with the extended warranty for a batch of little things that added up to a healthy bill.
I would do a little back ground check on how long the company has been in business, and of course homework the reviews. We got hung out to dry on a big furniture/appliance store that went out of business, purchased their extended warranty's on all our appliances, won't do that again. But on a $200k + boat, might be worth consideration, IMO. Will I have over $5675 in repairs from 2025 to 2028 with 75 hours a year, pretty doubtful. But again if it's transferrable, on the re-sale, and I were looking 2 similar boats, I would snag the one with the warranty.

It doesnt go into great detail. Does this include spark plugs? or are those considered consumable and are replaced at expense to the owner?
