Hey all - my '17 G23 wasn't optioned with the battery tender. I'm retrofitting it, but would like to get a couple pictures of the mounting solution from the factory. Can someone supply a few snaps of the factory mounting? Just curious how it was done.

I'm not at my boat so I cant add pictures but I placed an aftermarket on-board battery charger behind the port side stern storage locker on my 2017 G23. I mounted the charger on the storage locker wall, and I placed the rubber electrical outlet under the observer seat . Both outlet and charger are out of the way thereby not impeding any storage issues

Although it is not a G23, here's a picture of the battery tender on my 2018 GS20. I installed it per oem specs. I purchased the tender and the plug connector off Amazon. They are exactly the same as would have been installed at the factory. All the cutouts and screw holes in the boards were predrilled by the factory during construction and all matched up perfectly. Hope this helps.

If you're not worries about brand specific, NOCO makes a nice port... It is a shallower fit with the cable coming out at a lower point, might not tend to crimp over time...

The nice thing about ProSport vs. NOCO is that ProSport HD can allocate all amps to one battery or multiple batteries depending on need. IIRC, NOCO divides its amps equally among the banks. For NOCO, a 20 amp / 2 bank charger supplies a max of 10 amps per battery. ProSport, on the other hand, can deliver more than 10 amps if one battery is charged. This ends up helping my charging times because, often, my stereo battery is way lower than my starting battery when I pull the boat out.
I was going to put NOCO in my boat, but the dynamic charging sold me on ProSport. You'd want to check the specific model to make sure it has this feature (I think they call it "distributed on demand" charging). Also, if you think you might ever add a third battery, you can get the three bank ProSport HD and connect two of the leads to one battery and then separate them later if you add a third. I'm not sure how NOCO handles that.Previous boats:

I can see the advantages of the dynamic charging. I have had good luck with NOCO especially the one time I needed service. I had a lightning strike that took out a bunch of stuff and they still replaced the charger after a few years of buying it. I would recommend the 3 bank charger also. It is not much more over the two bank, and I just secure and securely cover the ends of the unused connection.. Two years and no problems..

I have no personal experience with ProMariner chargers, but I have heard some negative things said about them in fishing boat circles. Maybe those issues are old and newer ones are flawless--not really sure. I have several NOCO products that are awesome, and Dual Pro chargers have a solid reputation, too.
I guess my point is that there it nothing propietary between ProMariner and Nautique (aside from possibly the predrilled holes, etc). Do a little research and buy what works for you.
Also, if you're running AGM or lithium batteries, make sure whatever charger you buy is compatible (I assume most new chargers are AGM and Li compatible).Last edited by MN Ryan; 02-27-2023, 01:32 PM.

Same experience as MN Ryan--I've read a couple of negative things about ProMariner but, nevertheless, thought I'd give them a try because of the distributed charging. I don't think there's anything else special about them. Pricing is similar. FWIW, I don't think the ProSport HD handles Li.
There is a predrilled hole in the fabric-covered-plastic by the side of the observer seat that fits the ProMariner plug holder but is too small for the NOCO plug. For mounting the charger, there is backing material at the rear base of the observer seat--adequate for either ProMariner or NOCO. I mounted a piece of starboard on it and then mounted the charger to the plastic so that the unit is not placed directly against the carpet. On the ProSport HD, there are small cooling fins on the backside of the charger and the instructions say not to mount on carpet. Nautique mounts directly on the carpet.Previous boats:
