All my years of careful "board handling" and I put a tiny hole in my G23 sun pad vinyl with a wakeboard fin. What product do you recommend to "coat" it to seal it to keep water out? It is a very small hole...about quarter the size of a pencil eraser. I did throw some clear nail polish on there...but it seemed to dry down into the hole and not completely seal it. Any recommendation for a sealer would be appreciated. Thanks. Ken

Believe it or not I used this to repair a small puncture in the red vinyl on one of my front seats and a very small abrasion on my jump seat. I got super, super lucky as the color matched perfectly. Both are still holding up after 2 seasons.....

I've had good luck removing enough staples to get to the back side of the vinyl and using contact cement to glue a vinyl patch from the back side. Sometimes there are large enough pieces of extra vinyl sticking inside at the seams to get the material you need for the patch. Just don't remove any excess vinyl any closer than 1/4 inch from stitching. I've had a repair done in this manner hold up for 15+ years until I sold that boat.

I just went and picked up a package of Permatex and will give it a try on my boat. For $20, it's worth a try as new Skins are not in the budget real soon. Hope to try it out this weekend.

Let us know how it goes JDC02SANTE, I would be interested to hear. I usually take my rig down to a local upholstery shop that does a great job on repairs, but it's the whole hassle of making an appointment, dragging the boat around town for a morning drop off and an evening pickup. Throw in some pics if you a get a chance please.

Will do Scooter G. Looks like the package is good for small holes and such and has a few colors included. Some of my skins need waaaaay more love than this stuff will be able to take care of. I just need to stop some of the damage from spreading for a while on my boat that's as old as my first born.

Too cold to even go to the barn to look at the boat this weekend to try this stuff out. Mother Nature needs to get figured out. Golf league starts in a week, scheduling getting the boat lift put back in the water, c'mon!

It worked out good for the small areas I had (about 1/4" puncture) and a small triangular slice (again about a 1/4") slice that looks like someone hit the corner of a cushion with a fin from a board. My repairs are 2 seasons old and still holding. Be sure to really, really clean the area before attempting the repair. If you're anything like me I slather 303 on everything and this will stop adhesion of the product. I carefully used some acetone and rubbing alcohol then let it dry for an hour before attempting the repair. Prep is everything.Last edited by bturner; 01-16-2024, 07:39 AM.

MN Ryan Well, like a lot of projects I want to do, I didn't get started. The kit is still sitting in the barn. There's always this spring.
There's a big chance I have too many "hobbies" and "good intentions" and only one OCD/ADD brain, but boy if I actually start a project......oh, who am I kidding, I started this post like an hour ago. Someone help my poor wife! Not sure how she has put up with me for the past 32 years. Only married 24, see a pattern here??? Crap, I gotta get back to this WORK thing.
