Location to add garden hose quick-disconnect on a 98 Air

For invasive species inspections in CO a lot of the workers struggle with the fake-a-lake setup on my boat. So I'd like to add garden hose hookup so that the inspection process goes smoother this season.

Any recommendations on how to set this up? I'm a little worried about the garden hose providing too much pressure so I was thinking of putting it before the strainer. This would mean that right before the strainer, I'd add T with a valve and a quick disconnect that would go to the garden hose. This way there will be a natural relief of pressure from the garden hose back out the intake of the hull when hooked up.

Any thoughts / recommendations?

Find a convenient spot before the strainer and trans cooler -- in other words, between the water pick-up and the strainer. You can make your own "T" using parts from H.D. For an off-the-shelf option, Perko makes a freshwater flush device called the "Flush Pro". Fairly easy to hook-up. My old 1994 had the DIY version.

You need to look up Timmy T on CCF. The perko one has been known to fail.

I can't remember the pressure the circulating system produces - but typical garden hose pressure should not be more than 50-60 psi.. That said, the older nautiques that I owned with a flush, always had a spring relief valve - which to my understanding - kept from overpressurizing the system.

That's the beauty of the TimmyT any excess water pressure goes out the boats thru hull. The raw water pump will pull whats needed to cool the engine.I added a garden hose quick connect as you can see in my top picture. Second picture shows the parts you need,hardest part to find is the plastic 1" T, the other 2 parts can be found at Home Depot. They have been used for a lot of years on the the CCF site. I have one on every inboard I have.

My Perko failed. One of the fittings sheared off after years of vibration. If you use a Perko, make sure you have a seacock at the inlet to advert any catastrophic failures.
