After finding a couple stumps due to low water conditions last season I plan to install a depth gauge in the dash in a 2" hole that's available but has a blocking plate in it currently. The boat (2016 Sport 200) already has a depth gauge but it's in the multi-gauge to the right, next to the throttle lever and is near impossible to see the 1/4" readout numbers at any speed or at casual glance making it ineffective and basically unless (same goes for the temp). What I would like to do is make a splitter or converter cable to pull out the signal wires for the depth portion of the tri-mode transducer so I can use the existing transducer instead of installing a separate transducer for the new gauge. This is where (or at least think I'm at) in the process.....
What I'm looking for input on.....
Thanks for the input.....
- I was able to get a picture of my Gateway box from a Zero Off installation manual which shows the plugs (picture below).
- I have confirmed that both units use an Airmar transducer.
- Looking at the cable for the transducer it does not appear to be any special cable other that twisted pair and is currently terminated like any other electrical connector.
What I'm looking for input on.....
- Has anyone done this before?
- Does anyone know what kind of connector is on the end of the transducer in the picture.
- Does anyone know what connecter is in the Gateway box? It looks like a Deutsch connector to me but I'd like to be sure.
Thanks for the input.....
