The perfect pass screen on my 226 is basically dead, it turns on about 10% of the time. Original system from 2004. All the buttons and the system itself still function fine though. What should I do?

I sense a StarGazer upgrade in your future. While the price is a deterrant, it's a simple DIY upgrade.
I personally think silica gel packets are not a great idea. Sure, they absorb moisture, but they have a finite amount they can absorb, and they you've got a saturated silca gel packet inside your display.

I agree that the silica packets are just a stopgap. But I did it to mine 3 to 4 seasons ago and have not had the display issues since. I was just trying to avoid the cost of the upgrade, hoping I might find a new display for sale along the way, but the problem never returned.

I have a 2006 196 with perfect pass. Call perfect pass and they will give you your options. A few years ago I replaced my display and it worked fine for a few years. Started having problems last summer, upgraded to Star Gazer, very simple to upgrade. Since I had already upgraded the screen/dashboard gauge, I just needed the box… in your case, you will need a new dashboard gauge and star gazer unit. When you call, you need the perfect pass model number that is on the perfect pass unit, mine is under the observer seat and your boat info, year model. Also, I see Greenwood Lake, I grew up in Goshen…
