Is there anything special that needs to be done to the heater to winterize it? Thanks

    RE: heater winterization

Disconnect it from the block and blow through one of the hoses to make sure you get all the water out of the heater core. I backfill it with antifreeze- just pour it in one hose until it comes out the other.

Backfilling is a necessity, as it seems that just blowing out the core can leave enough water in it to crack (Learned this the hard way). Remember if it uses a heat exchanging fresh water cooling system the heater will already have anti-freeze in it, and theres no reason to flush it.

Learned the hard way to make sure that all water is out of the heater core. Have been through two already and not gonna make any mistakes this year on making sure this thing is water free.
