2022 G23 loud squealing

I've got a loud, kind of metal on metal sounding squeal coming from motor compartment. It almost sounds like a dog whistle It only occurs during medium load or mid RPM (3100-3600ish rpms) At low speeds, full throttle or full balast there's no sound. If I rev the engine in neutral there is no sound so it most likely has something do to with the drive.

I'm on season two with about 55 hours on the boat. The boat worked perfect last season and was fine our first trip this season. I can't say for sure but the sound seems to be coming from somewhere around the v-drive.

Two things I would immediately check. Transmission and V-drive fluid levels. Low levels can cause noise.
It could also be a serpentine belt squealing.

V-drive and tranny fluid are good. That's the first thing I checked. It's a much different sound than a squealing belt

You Tube link worked, but my dogs are howling.
Doesn't sound on the good side of things. Sound location can be a strange bugger, sounds like it's coming from here, but it's actually coming from there. We used to use an ear to a long screwdriver and start probing to isolate the location. Might be a little redneck but it works.

I agree on the sound issue. I can't for sure say that's the location, but it is the loudest location.

PCM said it's coming from the flame arrestor. Apparently they have silencer kit that is on it's way. Basically the perfect storm of air flowing through at the exact wrong way and whistling

Isn't that interesting, who would of thunk. Sounds an easy fix.

This fix appears to have worked great, two days in.

Yep. I had the same issue with my 2022 G23. The dealer adds a little "comb" to the intake which redirects the airflow a bit. The whistling sound went away after that.

That's exactly what it looked like. Haven't been out since they installed it, but sounds like it should do the trick

That is weird for sure... Crazy that an odd
airflow causes that.
