I hit a submerged tree in my SAN v215 at 5mph and the impact was strong enough to kill the engine. I restarted and tried to accelerate and immediately had a vicious vibration, so I pulled the boat out and called it a day. The prop and strut were both bent and the rudder had a lot of play. I had the prop repaired at Prop Shop Richmond and also put a new strut on which included new cutlass bearings. Also replaced the rudder and did an engine alignment. Went out for a test run and although it was MUCH better, there is still some vibration on hard acceleration. I'm calling it a vibration, but I can't actually feel anything. I can hear it though. It sounds like the dash is going to rattle itself loose, but I don't feel any vibration in the wheel or anywhere. And it is smooth on easy acceleration, and once on-plane it feels great.
Once I got the boat home, I checked the prop shaft at the taper with a dial indicator to see if it was bent and I had about .004" of movement. I decided to go ahead and install a new prop shaft and coupler. Went out for another test run and still have the vibration/rattle. At this point I am pretty stumped and tired of throwing money at this thing. I'm hoping someone here has some ideas as to how to resolve this vibration/rattle.
