09 SAN 230 sat for few years with minimum use

We are looking at a 09 SAN 230 that has low hours. Owner had another boat so this one got very little use the past several years. It's been kept in a garage so visually is in great condition minus a 12" long crack in the top of the gel coat....the original trailer even looks great. I still need to review the maintenance records but based on the conversations we've had, it seems it was still being maintained annually despite minimal use. I'm having a PCM authorized dealer mechanic do a pre purchase inspection on it. I'll ask him the same question but I am curious if any members have recommendations of service items to do before using the boat? I would expect the pre purchase inspection would identify things such as hoses that need replaced.

I've done some research and it seems servicing the fuel system if fuel has sat is one of the main items.

run a compression test followed by a water test if possible prior to purchase.
swap the plugs and plug wires, in addition to trans & oil changes. also look into a coolant flush. may dump the fuel if it sat untreated.
you can pre emptively change the fcc and inline fuel filter by the ballast pumps if you want to go extra.

my 230 ran a little rough when i bought it and the plugs brought it back to life. i change mine every 2 years, and olug wires every 5 (along with coolant check/flush).

make sure all gauges work & no electrical issues from sitting in potentially damp scenarios.

if uncovered in a garage, check for evidence of mice intrusion - chewing on wires or hoses.

the gelcoat can be repaired with a spectrum color matched kit. not too difficult for a savvy youtuber. just nake sure thebgel crack is not much more than a spider crack (thin and not deep into fiberglass).

Also, if the 230 has the “s†shaped bkack tower, check for any evidence of cracking near the base if the tower; i believe these had a design flaw in drainage and were susceptible to water getting into a cavity, freezing and therefore cracking the tower.

100% on the above but make sure you put in the correct coolant as the original spec does not mix with all types. Also, check the anode in the heat exchanger.

Plugs are a must if the engine seems to be missing, especially when cold, make sure you get the original spec as substitutions don't seem to do as well. I don't know why this engine is so plug-sensitive but they need to be swapped on a regular basis as well as the plug wires.

You may also want to flush the trailer brake fluid and perform a bearing check. Tires should be replaced at 6 years unless you are only hauling a couple of miles.

On the tower, the last post on the following link has a video on where the relief hole should be located to prevent freezing. https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...ay-sorry/page5

This is a great boat and the last with all gauges which is nice because you avoid a lot of all-in-one screen gremlins that plague newer boats.

There is also a guy who was making a NSS retrofit system. Google Max1.6 NSS or similar and you will find his system somewhere. I purchased one, it looks nice, but it sits in my garage uninstalled because I am a wakeboarder who finds surfing pointless. Guests are stuck with a wake shaper.
