2007 SV 211 - Potentiometer or ECU

Our boat, 2007 SV 211 has been diagnosed with either a faulty potentiometer or ECU (do they mean ECM?) .. boat has 325 hours on it, we're the orignal owners.

Would appreciate any input, advice, similar experiences.
