Does fuel in my fuel pump vent tube mean I need a new fuel pump? Going thru the boat and replaced the dark tube and now I can see fuel pushing up the fuel vent tube

Assuming that you are talking about the mechanical fuel pump in your 1990 Ski Nautique...then YES. Your fuel pump is likely failing. The clear fuel line to the carburetor is a safety precaution so that raw gasoline doesn't get dumped directly into the bilge and cause a fire hazard in the event of a fuel pump failure.

The OEM fuel pump was made by Carter -- part number M60389 (IIRC). They are readily available if you do a search with "Carter M60389".

Thank you All! Last fall I picked up a well used Nautique and I'm trying to catch up on some maintenance issues. After replacing a dark brown fuel pump vent tube, I could see fuel being pumped up the new clear tube. I guess I'll add a new fuel pump to my maintenance list...ugh
Also, I found an interchange list for the Carter M60389 I thought was worth sharing...

QuickFuel M-600 is a great replacement carb for your Holley 4160 -- the OEM carb. QuickFuel is now owned by Holley. Many of the Holley parts work in both Holley and QF. In my opinion, the QF carbs are really what the Holley carbs should be, but are not. I've owned several and have the highest regard for the QF products.
