Why is my new alternator belt so long

Am I missing something? While replacing my impeller, I noticed the alternator belt laying in the bilge. 'Splains some other issues.

Bought a 2 belt kit fro NP's and I just don't see how I can mve the alternator far enough to get tension on the belt.

Did the other belt fit? Did the old belt still have the PN on it? I would agree that is not the correct belt for that location.

Water pump belt was correct.

You've got them in the wrong places.

PCM #R066001 is the Alternator Belt.
PCM #R066008 is the Raw Water Pump Belt.

Well, slap me and call me Suzan. Not sure how I hosed that up as the water pump belt looked new still, so I wasn't going to replace it and I thought I matched them up. Of course I had left the broken alt belt at my house when I went to finish my impeller change, so I couldn't match that one up. Update to come after I run out to check that out this afternoon as the boat has to go IN! Heck, I may skip out of work for a bit this morning and go check that out as it's all I can think about now.........boat is only 20 minutes away. What to do, what to do.

Isn't PN the best, diagnosis from 6 States away over the airwaves by some of the best, wow.

OK, back from the barn and the belt is on. Feeling great, but also a little like a dolt for mixing up the belts on Saturday. What a bafooooon!

Well look at it this way, you got it right the second time and you're back on the water. Congrats. Still fighting rough waters and rain out here on Lake Erie for the 6th day in a row. Wish a mixed up belt was my only issue on getting the boat out.

I will say, I've had plenty of time to detail the boat and car this past week. Both are looking absolutely wonderful, wish I could use them.
