SAN 210 Rudder twisted 180 degrees?

Has anyone seen this? I was on a lake this past 4th of July and pushed the boat up to beach dock my 2009 San 210 as I forgot my anchor. After cooking burgers with the fam the boats waves pushed my boat another 2 feet buried in the sand. My son and I had to rock it out by twisting the front end. When I FINALLY got it out and went to take off my steering was not right. I managed to pull it on the trailer and seen my rudder is now rotated (almost 180 degrees) to where it hits my my prop. Has this happen to anyone else? Just looking for any advice how to fix. I was thinking if I pull the bolt (green arrow) on top of the rudder box I might be able to turn it the correct position. See pics below. Any help would be much appreciated. -

Did it break or bend the end of the steering cable?

It almost looks like the square connector on the tiller arm may have rounded out. That would take some serious force!

Could have bent the end because now my bilge pump hits when I turn the steering wheel? I can post more pics? Thank you for your reply.

I'd pop the tiller arm off of the rudder and see if it is rounded out.

It should be square, like this one.

If you did that to the rudder, I'd be looking at the strut and cutlass bearing as well.

Another thought on the rudder issue would be the other end of the system which would be the steering rack. I would think you would "stretch" the cable, pull the cable out of a ferrule or strip the steering rack before rounding out something as substantial as that tiller arm or the rudder shaft but who knows. There's way too much to damage under the boat on an inboard to beech this type of boat but I'm sure you realize that now.

Thank you Turner for the reply… yes a hard lesson learned! I ended up taking the rudder arm off and realigning the rudder and steering wheel and I think I might have a blessing! All seems to work well now. Thank you Jeff for pointing me me to the rudder arm. I appreciate the response as it saved me 5 weeks of me putting it into the local Nautique stealership.

That used to happen on my 210. The rudder linkage had enough slack / play that it would go past the extreme left or right and would reverse. This actually happened to me while reversing on the water. I ended up taking the bolts out of that tiller arm, then recentered the rudder, and put it back together. Then I stabilized the pivot point next to the motor which helped. Lastly, I never move the wheel to the extreme left or right.
